Wedding Activity Books

I was more than thrilled to design children activity books for my brother's wedding. It's always fun designing for the little ones. Each activity was selected on the matter of what would be fun and challenging for the kids. But they're really just to keep the kids from running amok and tipping things over, like three tier cakes or centrepieces draped with genuine crystahls and tea lights.

I am currently selling these wedding activity books as printable copies that you can print from home or your nearest printer. They're printed on A4 paper then folded to an A5, perfect size for the little'uns and include fun-filled activities suitable for boys and girls. Includes the cover with custom illustrations of you and your partner, stylised exactly as shown in the images above. Choose any colour to suit the theme of your wedding!  For more info or Buy now at my Etsy store.

Hens Night Invitations

Themed Audrey Hepburn/Naughty Hens Night Invitation designs for my sister-in-law. I thought of a vintage/burlesque name-in-lights Broadway feel with purple as her fave colour. Since it was a surprise party I incorporated a silhouette image of Audrey Hepburn with a naughty twist, devil horns.

Birthday greeting card range

Greeting card range pitch I did for a greeting card print company. The client wanted to revamp their current styles targeting the modern female teenage market. He was after bright colours that featured butterflies, unicorns, fairies and angels. Although it did not make it into printing, however it was a good learning curve. As I tend to think more intuitively, I decided to go with what I felt was current and would appeal to the market. I think the client preferred a more realistic / painterly approach.

Dog's Comedy

Dogs Comedy Logo designs. - A comedy club organisation supporting and promoting comedy and aspiring stand-up comedians. www.dogscomedy.com
The client was after a stylised bulldog design as the mascot for the club. The idea was to create fun, threatening but warm, intriguing but safe feel to the brand. Loved working on this, even had myself watching looney tunes for inspiration.

Rural Roots

Here is a recent poster design I did for a stand-up comedian whom I met through my other comedic clients. Really enjoyed putting this together as I had the chance to illustrate and the client was open to my suggestions.

Sketch 66 Day 66 - You may call yours BFF. Companion. Mate. Bosom Buddy. Or Compadre. Friendship is just a good thing ain't it? Saw it in action in the last Harry Potter film (enjoyed the film by the way ;) Just nice to have someone looking out for you or vice versa. So I raise my glass and say cheers to good people and friendship !

ASAD Sketch #60 - Did you receive my carrier pigeon?

Sketch 60 Day 60 - Ok just a little rant. I've had issues with my mobile phone. Today in particular, when I never received the credits I paid for. Although customer service was helpful, it was a pain to have to wait and call up different representatives to solve my problem. Phooey. I think carrier pigeons would be much more reliable.

ASAD Sketch #58 - Goodbye Potter movie franchise

Sketch 58 Day 58 - It's been about 10 years since I read the first Harry Potter book. I remember how swept away I was by the story. I was indeed spellbound. JK Rowling you genius, I thought. Then came the film adaptation. As much as I was attached to the book, I still looked forward to seeing it . Hmm sure let's see 'somebody else's' interpretation of the book. Naturally, I found myself making mental debates throughout the film. This went down like..That wasn't how I imagined Hermione, Ron or Harry to look...whaaa? they totally reworked one of the best parts of the book!...the acting seemed to lack spirit to how I imagined it in the book...etc. I walked out the cinema a little disappointed, I had high expectations. I preferred my imagination. Come 10 years later, I actually didn't stop myself from watching the other films that followed. It grew on me, I grew a love for them. I even own the dvd's for goodness sake. I am indeed spellbound for all things Potter.

Ok about my sketch -  just a heads up to those who haven't read or seen the last instalment of Mr. Harry Potter. I actually haven't seen the new film yet either only read the book ;) For those who don't want to know a tiny spoiler, I'd probably stop reading from here. But it's no biggie. Just my interpretation of Harry Potter's daughter, Lily Potter.

ASAD Sketch #57 - wedding planner

Sketch 57 Day 57 - Visited a wedding planner for a friend last weekend. Her home was exquisite. Beautiful vintage furnishings, like something you see out of a home style magazine. We also had the privilege to see her wonderful vintage wardrobe. Her dresses and jewellery had me gaping. Lovely lady who knows her style.

Bee-Ewe-Tea-Full

Hey there ! Back again. Breaks are always good. Nice to put the ole brain on standby and do other things like..cleaning. Nah just did a bit of that. Let's see, I practised playing the guitar. Also took a trip to the countryside to help plan a friend's wedding. Nice to visit a new part of town. Opens up the eyes to new things. Then I got withdrawal symptoms. Yes I missed drawing. And blogging. Just my creative head space.

Here's a drawing I did before my break. They're pictorial words or a pictogram if you will. Been thinking of designing pictograms for while, this is my first attempt. I think they're fun, they remind me of symbols used in Ancient History. I like to see it as a form of a puzzle, where you try to work out what the pictures convey. I think it's fun that way. Hmm..will explore this area further.

ASAD Sketch #49 - Alicia Keys 10th Anniversary

Been a fan of the Miss Keys since she brought us Fallin' a decade ago. Takes me back to my high school days *shudder* Would listen to her albums on constant replay and sing along (badly) to her tracks, imitating her sultry voice. I think I wanted to be her. Yeah sure like I can write, compose, arrange and play music like her :P She be a genius!

Her Songs in A Minor Anniversary 10th Edition is out now.

ASAD Sketch #48 - Tupperware Hat

ASAD Sketch #46 - Pink Lemonade

Sketch 46 Day 46 - Movie colour inspiration. I created a character inspired by the colour palette from The Sound of Music's, pink lemonade scene. The character has nothing to do with the film, just wanted to sketch a socially awkward chick or maybe she's just busting to go to the toilet. You decide.
